Even though this is a small booklet of 33 pages, it took me a while to read. Dr. Muhletsein writes in a way that evokes so much contemplation and shares profound insights that I read a bit at a time to let sink in and process it. You can't even get a few pages in without feeling like you're seeing the events of the Savior's last week as if you are there, and you see them as if you are part of their culture, through their eyes and understanding. I think this booklet needs to be in every home. In just 33 pages, I feel changed and just like the woman at the well, I want to go and tell everyone what this little book has done for me. I know when I read these accounts in the New Testament, I will have a greater appreciation and understanding that I've never had before.

I have just finished reading an advanced copy of Kerry Muhlestein's new book, The Easter Connection. It is a must-read for those who love Jesus Christ and the Easter story! I had so many "ah ha" moments as I pondered the connections between the sadness felt with loss, separation, and abandonment, and the last days of the Savior's life. Those scriptures came alive to me in a whole new way. I appreciated the details of the words defined, enlarging my understanding of what the Savior endured in His Atoning Sacrifice. My love for Jesus and Heavenly Father has become deeper as I pondered all that was sacrificed and endured for us. Dr. Muhlestein offered new insights into the relationships Jesus had with his beloved apostles and the struggle Christ felt as He experienced loss, separation, abandonment, and even betrayal. This little book made me want to strengthen my relationship with Jesus, the Holy Ghost, and Heavenly Father. I highly recommend this short read for anyone who yearns to have Easter be more about Christ and less about cultural messages. You will want to read it every Easter to remind yourself of the great debt we owe Christ.

What I read and felt is cultivated respect for other opinions, assumptions, and hypotheses. Always in search of truth, never stopping to learn more, and even to question own ideas from time to time. The structure of the book is brilliant to give clarity of focus, depth, and a needed consistency of effort to learners. Not only is the historical part fascinating and understandable for everyone, but also a blueprint of what it means how to learn. For me it finds the balance between giving plausible solutions to “spectacular ideas” and the real content of the Book of Abraham – see John A. Widtsoe’s quote in chapter 13. The combination of facts, teaching understanding, and the invitation to believe in what was understood changed my life even today. The part of “How do you know?” gives the learner a path that can be used in all fields of studies. I read it on the plane to see my grandkids. It won’t be the last time – I’ll go back to this comprehensive short version of wisdom about the Book of Abraham again and again.

The thing that most impressed me about this book is the way it succinctly presents information essential to a true understanding of The Book of Abraham. Dr. Muhlestein presents historical and cultural context that is critical to understanding how Joseph Smith came to possess the documentation from which the Book of Abraham is revealed. I particularly appreciated Chapter 7, "How Do You Know", and the succeeding Section on Questions. I was grateful that this book was written in a style easily understood by the general public. I believe a true understanding of the Book of Abraham can only come by examining it in the light of the understanding presented in this book.

Dr. Muhlestein combines an incredibly deep knowledge of ancient scriptures with a genuine gift for teaching them in layman's terms. He begins "Learning to Love Isaiah" by explaining the benefits of understanding Isaiah, and then immediately starts giving us tools and insights which make this important prophet's writings easier to understand. Then Dr. Muhlestein launches into a chapter by chapter, verse by verse analysis which brings Isaiah to life in a way I have never experienced. I am coming to understand in new ways why the Savior commanded us to study Isaiah, and why the Book of Mormon spends so much time quoting him. After attending Dr. Muhlestein's classes at BYU Education Week, I was excited to find that his new book, "Learning to Love Isaiah" was available. Dr. Muhlestein is a master communicator, both as a lecturer and as an author. Dr. Muhlestein has the gift that enables him to cover traditionally difficult material in a way that not only informs and educates, but remains interesting and relevant to our understanding. As he mentions in his book, it is one thing to study and another thing to understand. In the Introduction to his book, Dr. Muhlestein relates the story of Phillip questioning if the eunuch understood what he was studying in Isaiah wherein the eunuch states, 'How can I, except some man should guide me?" Dr. Muhlestein has accepted the challenge to guide us through the material. "Learning to Love Isaiah" would be a positive benefit to your collection of Old Testament study library, especially as we begin our study of the Old Testament.

I love that this book covers tips for beginners in Isaiah while going in depth enough to help someone already familiar with him to find new insights. This is a very helpful book for a deeper understanding of Isaiah - which has definitely helped me to love his prophetic and Messianic writing more!

As a professor of ancient scripture and archeologist, he is masterful in explaining the land itself, political climate, and ancient Jewish life. I highly recommend God Will Prevail. This book illuminated my understanding of the Abrahamic Covenant in ways I have never viewed it before. Dr. Muhlestein guides readers to a deeper understanding of the importance of the Abrahamic Covenant from ancient times to modern-day covenantal obligations. I learned to identify language that is woven throughout all books of scripture that teaches us more about the Abrahamic Covenant. I am now studying the scriptures with new eyes and learning new things from scriptural passages that I have read many times before. This is a book to be studied and savored. God Will Prevail by Kerry Muhlestein is an excellent nonfiction that helps the Christian reader on a quest to learn more about The Covenants, what this work in progress looks like, and what the journey to better understanding, implementing, and adaptation. The author is very talented in his ability to break things down into a non intimidating narrative. He is able to make things easy to understand, digest, and follow. He also has a way with words. His talent is obvious in his knowledge and research, but also in his ability to draw the reader in and keep their interest and engagement all while enlightening them. I really learned a lot, and I am pursuing other works by this author now as well.

This book has changed my understanding of the eternal nature of the Abrahamic covenant and especially of the relationship of God to his children. Note to self, go back and study this deeper. This book talked about God’s covenant to Israel. Covenants are to help us create a bond with God. It is a way to allow Him into our lives and to get closer to Him. One takeaway that I loved was that God wants to exalt us! He doesn’t expect us to be perfect, but he does expect us to make and keep covenants with Him. As long as we continue to strive to live and keep those covenants with Him, He will bless us.

I have a thing for non-fiction Christian books. I have previously read a literary work from this author prior and was excited to get my hands on this one! As always I am astounded by the depth of content that Dr. Kerry Muhlstein packs into his books. His books are ones I prepare to fully “study” not just read. This one is also one you’ll want a highlighter and pen handy for note taking as well as thoughts and impressions. This book was able to help me better understand covenants and what following the covenant path looks like. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in the Abrhamic Covenant/The New and Everlasting Covenant, Temple/Family History work, understanding the Covenant Path and the task to gather Israel.
